Held as part of the International Conference on Science and Technology (ICST UGM 2025), the 6th Geoscience and Environmental Management Symposium is dedicated to supporting and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each accepted paper is mapped to relevant SDGs such as climate action, clean energy, responsible resource use, water and land management, and sustainable communities. Our program encourages interdisciplinary solutions for a more sustainable and resilient future.

The 6th Geoscience and Environmental Management Symposium (GEM – ICST 2025) serves as an international interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to present and discuss original research integrating geosciences, environmental management, engineering, and sustainability. Hosted by Universitas Gadjah Mada in conjunction with its major faculties, GEM focuses on advancing solutions to global challenges such as natural resource management, disaster risk reduction, renewable energy, and sustainable development.
In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), every accepted paper is mapped to one or more of the 17 SDGs, fostering cross-disciplinary insights for a more sustainable future. Topics include land and water management, climate resilience, urban sustainability, circular economy, energy innovation, and more.

Since 2020, the Geoscience and Environmental Management Symposium has partnered with the International Conference on Science and Technology, with proceedings published in reputable outlets.

In 2024, the symposium received over 385 manuscript submissions from 501 participants representing 17 countries. The conference addressed a comprehensive range of topics, including environmental management, disaster risk reduction, land, water, and natural resource management, engineering economy and cost analysis, environmental and geological engineering, environmental development technology, geo-maritime studies, geo-resources and geo-hazard mitigation, geo-tourism and cultural geography, human factors and ergonomics, human and natural resource management, industrial geography and supply chain engineering, safety, security and risk management, as well as urban and rural resources and land use management.

It is essential that the topic of your manuscript aligns with both the thematic scope of the symposium and the publisher’s guidelines. This ensures relevance to the conference objectives and resonance with the interests of attendees and readers.
All submissions must present original research and must not have been previously published or presented elsewhere. To uphold academic integrity, manuscripts must not exceed a similarity score of 20%, with no more than 5% similarity from any single source. 💡 We strongly recommend using plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate to verify manuscript originality.
All papers must be written in English (US) to ensure clarity and accessibility for an international audience.
Ensure all fonts are embedded, and the document is not encrypted or secured. Avoid using headers, footers, bookmarks, form fields, hyperlinks, or annotations.

All artworks must be submitted at a minimum resolution of 300 DPI. Tables and figures sourced externally must be in English (US), with proper permissions and citations in accordance with copyright regulations. Tables must not be included as pictures or screenshots.

Authors must attend the conference on July 30–31, 2025, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, for a live Q&A session. Attendance is mandatory. If unavailable, a co-author must present in your place. Unpresented papers will be excluded from publication.

To participate as a presenter in this symposium, there are nine steps that you need to follow.
Before submitting your paper, it is essential that all authors have an EDAS account. If you already have an EDAS account, you can proceed to the next step to submit your paper using your registered account.

Fill in the required fields (marked with a red asterisk). You can complete other information
after the registration. At the end of the form, tick the box “I consent to the EDAS privacy and
policies” and click "Add this person" to create your account.

Your account will require moderation for at least 24 hours.
Set up your initial password by clicking the link on your email. Ensure you check your inbox or spam mail for the email from the EDAS system. If you do not receive the email, feel free to contact us or the EDAS Helpdesk. Please note that we use third-party software, so you cannot request it at the end of time.

After creating an EDAS account, you can submit your paper in the system. To ensure a smooth and efficient submission process, please complete the following steps before submitting your paper:

Once logged in, click the "ICST: 6th Geoscience and Environmental Management Symposium" under the Track column.
Enter your paper details, tick the box “Add yourself as author,” and click the "Submit" button to register your paper.
Your paper has successfully been registered. You can now view it in your EDAS account.
Click Add authors to add your co-authors (if available).
Enter your co-author’s name, EDAS ID, or email address. Alternatively, you can select their name from the co-author list. Then, click "Add author" button.
Click the "Select this person" button to confirm the addition.
After adding your co-author, click the "Upload the paper" button.
Tick the box “I have checked that the authors listed in the manuscript are the same as the current list of authors on the paper record,” choose your document, and click the "Upload ..." button.
Ensure your document is in the PDF format.

To complete the revised paper submission, please navigate to the EDAS dashboard page ↗︎ and click on your paper title. Then, upload your revised paper in PDF format by clicking the cloud icon in the "Revised paper" section.
Submit revised paperBy default, the author who submitted a paper will be presenting at the conference. If the submitter of your paper is not designated as the presenter, please specify the presenter in the EDAS paper page.

Please ensure that you allocate time on July 30-31 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as the conference program is non-negotiable and must adhere to the schedule provided by the organizing committee.
In the event that you are unable to attend, please arrange for one of your co-authors to represent you. Any changes to attendance will result in a corresponding change to the name listed on the certificate, which will be sent via email.
