The conference will be held for two days and will consist of plenary and symposia sessions. The plenary sessions will be presented by a number of keynote speakers. The symposia session will consist of presentations from invited speakers and presenters for each topic, and it will take place in breakout rooms. All sessions will be conducted in English.
The agricultural system has been developed in the last 10000 years and has been rapidly changing during its practice. The development of agriculture involves intensifying the processes and extensification of land cultivation. Both of these agricultural activities need innovation to adapt to current needs.
Smart and innovative agriculture is intended to fulfill the needs for agricultural development and overcome emerging agricultural problems in the field and the laboratory. Digital transformation and technology in agriculture have become the main issue to be raised nowadays. Digital transformation has the potential to revolutionize agriculture by helping farmers work more precisely, efficiently, and sustainably. Digital transformation also has the potential to offer consumers greater transparency as to how their food is produced. It gives opportunities to renew business models in value chains by connecting producers and consumers in innovative ways. Furthermore, technology is crucially required to follow the needs in this digitalization era or even accelerate agriculture's digital transformation.
The agricultural system continues to be developed by various groups to this day. Many subjects determine this development related to agriculture. The root of agriculture subjects that emphasize agronomy, land management, and genetics are still valuable to be discussed and to follow its development of knowledge through the current research. However, the challenges of developing agriculture are many. Therefore, big agricultural data, precision farming, smart farming, nutrition technology, and sustainable food production emphasizing techniques are strongly needed to adapt to digital transformation in agriculture.
There is an urgent need for more research on agriculture, both fundamental and applied, and for better dissemination of existing knowledge to practitioners in the field. Smart technology and agriculture innovation present several specific challenges that justify a dedicated conference. Therefore, this conference aims to bring together scientists, policymakers, and practitioners active in the agriculture sector to present the latest research developments and discuss how new and existing knowledge can be implemented efficiently to foster further development of agriculture. Digital transformation and technology, which will bring data-driven insights, can improve decision-making and practices. It also can help increase environmental performance, reduce problems related to remoteness and enhance access to services.
Held as part of the Universitas Gadjah Mada Annual Scientific Conferences (UASC 2022) series, the 3rd International Conference on Smart and Innovative Agriculture (ICoSIA 2022) provides an ideal academic platform for researchers to present the latest research findings and describe emerging technologies and directions in agriculture.
This year, the conference will take the theme “Digital transformation, technology, and its solution for agriculture” with seven symposia: Agricultural Big Data Analysis symposium; Agricultural Geography symposium; Land and Environmental Management symposium; Precision Nutrition Technology symposium; Smart and Precision Farming symposium; Smart Genetics Resource Management and Utilization symposium; and Sustainable Food Production symposium.
Authors are invited to electronically submit both of their full papers in English to the EDAS system. The submitted papers will be peer-reviewed based on relevance and timeliness, technical content and scientific rigor, novelty and originality, and their quality of presentation. The accepted and presented papers will be submitted for possible inclusion to proceedings that are indexed by Scopus/Clarivate Analytics/DOAJ: Atlantis Press.
